Eurobricks Bans Bootleg Lego Forum Threads

It is a sad day. A lot of us get our latest news and updates from Eurobricks.com. They have a forum thread over there named

"Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?"

and for the past years, many have dedicated into posting their finds, updates, and even reviews of certain bootleg brands over there. Now it is gone.

I understand though why they are doing this. I just hope a new discussion thread somewhere else is created. Reddit maybe?

For those interested, click here to visit the closed thread.

Despite this, DownTheBlocks will try to continue posting news and updates regarding bootleg Lego sets.

Feel free to start up a discussion below! Or start it over at Facebook!

  1. This was expectable since Lego began to take actions against Lepin. Seems like the scale of Lepin bootleg productions has begun to threat Lego business.
I've googled some discussions after reading news about that on MyBrickstore and I have to say there are so much Lego fanboys that are like absolutely mad and toxic. They defend Lego and insult bootleg brands as if Chinese manufacturers steal money from their (fanboys) pocket.
Yeah Lego is good, but man, they are goddamn expensive. Really big sets cost a lot. When I was a kid I was always afraid to lose my minifigs, cause you couldn't buy spares anywhere. Only sets. Bootlegs mostly produced minifigures, including new design that Lego didn't have until Lepin came and began to massively produce clone sets with very acceptable quality.
I don't know what's ethical or not in this case, but let's say Lego aren't angels here, they are doing business.

    1. Yeah I get that. I love bootlegs honestly, made me appreciate Lego even more than before because it was really too expensive. What I don't get is Eurobricks' decision. It's not like Lego's gonna sue them for merely discussing bootleg brands.. Maybe their mods are also those toxic-type Lego fanboys :(

    2. Maybe, and some of them forget that salary rate at other countries are different from Europe or USA. For, example the comment about how overpriced Lego can be: http://mybrickstore.blogspot.ru/2016/09/decool-0250-0255-lego-marvel-minifigures.html?showComment=1474647180585#c6106354843091425301

And I have to add that bootleg minifigures are perfect for customization. They cost cheap and it's now a tragedy when you spoil it. Can't say same about Lego.

    1. I'm just gonna say not really a social media or forum guy, although I have been known to lurk from time to time. That bootleg thread was basically the only reason I joined Eurobricks, and now that it's gone there's a fairly good chance I won't be posting on that site again. There's at least a handful of other users that only joined for the same reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them stop posting too. That bootleg subreddit doesn't seem to be very active right now, but if it picks up I might consider joining.

    2. I saw at Customize Minifigures Intelligence @ Facebook that there's a reddit.com/r/buildingblocks and reddit.com/r/lepin that I guess is more active, though I honestly would prefer it if all the bootleg stuff were in reddit.com/r/bootlego just for unity haha

  3. Not sure if you noticed or not but there is a new bootleg thread on Eurobricks. It's a bit limited since we can't talk about Lepin or other stuff that's a direct clone of Lego, but we can still talk about bootleg stuff that is original.

    1. Thanks for the heads up, just checked it out and already saw something great, clear product pictures of the new DLP Spider-Man set! I guess I'll be relaying some of their finds in this blog for other people! Thanks again! :)
