Enlighten 1503A: Assorted Minifigs including Blue Dragon, Baseball Player, and More.

Man, I hope they made more of these types but with flesh colored prints..

Don't really know much about Enlighten, but I do know that lots of people love them.

  1. Enlighten is easily my favorite brand, it's really good quality blocks and they are the only ones around that do great Castle and Pirate sets (which I own in almost it's entirety lol). Definitely adding these to my minifig collection. ANd yeah, the skin color is always a bit of a nightmare... On one hand, yellow is the classic Lego color, but now that they are doing a more realistic flesh colored minifigs it's odd mixing them both together.

    1. Yeah.. I really prefer flesh minifigs. If Enlighten makes some that I really like, I'll pick them up. The dragon one from this set looks very interesting though so I'll check this set out too if ever I see it in my local stores. :D Glad that Enlighten's a good brand :D

    2. Damn, they look great.

If they were skin color I would grab them for spares.

    3. I think their goal with these is to have them go along with the legit Lego minifig collection series. They only have flesh colored figs in their late 2016, 2017 sets (Legenderay Pirates, Police Battle Force, Space Adventure, Combat Zone [except the vilains which are all yellow, minus Hitler - yes, Hitler]). There's a few flesh colored minifigs in their Romance of the 3 Kingdoms sets, if you're looking for asian featured heads.

    4. Yeah I think they want that classic Lego vibe with this just like the Lego minifigs in blind bags. My personal preference is also skin color but I'm aware that some people prefer yellow skins. And I've yet to see those Asian heads from Enlighten but I'd love to have Asian heads for my MOCs and all haha

    5. Look for set 1501-B. They are relatively easy to find on AliExpress if you shop on there.

    6. I see. Thanks. Oh and, what's 1501-A then? If you know.. Haha

    7. It's another Romance of the 3 Kingdoms set but doesn't have flesh-colored minifigs. Ah, well no, actually there's a 2 brown complexion figs.

    8. It seems they want to continue with yellow and fleshies. In the to-be-released theme "The War of Glory" (a mixture of fantasy castle with some futuristic elements) with knight, elves, ents (yeah, walking trees like those from LoTR) the "humans" are yellow, the elves are fleshies. The other to-be-released theme "Creation of The Gods" (very similar to Ninjago, except for the fact that the ninjas have been replaced by ancient soldiers) the humans are fleshies and the enemies (the gods?) have various skin colours, among others light blue, red, green, white.

    9. Oh yeah, just in case if a fan comes along, I know that ents are meant to be creatures resembling trees and not "moving trees" ;)

  2. They did a great tuetonic knight in their last set. Couldn't find a single aliexpress seller that does enlighten singled. You have to but the set which was ok. The rapper was amazing. It was just I'd like a few more knights.

    1. You have to look at Taobao if that's an option for you. There are various sellers who sell the minifigs separately, and with realistic prices. I got two knights for 8 Yuan each plus 5 Yuan for postage (within China), which is 2,79 € or 3.04 $. The knight was already rather expensive (and it seems highly demanded), other minifigs went for ~ 4 Yuan and a complete set of 8 minifigs for ~ 30 Yuan (plus postage, which is between 7 to 10 Yuan usually, and has to paid only once - so ideally, order more stuff from a single seller).

Just to give you an impression of what these sets cost in China. These sellers still earn some money, no idea how much the sets would cost in local shops.

Another example, last autumn I got four Enlighten Knights sets (1012, 1015, 1016, 1018) from an official Enlighten online shop for 81,80 Yuan (there was some special holidays offer, 50 % discount, free postage), which corresponds to 10.86 € or 11.86 $. Considering the size and quality of the sets even the original price would have been okay.

    2. Any tips on Taobao shopping if you can't understand Chinese? Hahaha

    3. Well my girlfriend is from Asia and working there as well at the moment, so for me it's no problem ;)

I've heard that there seem to be "professionals" who order at Taobao (or other sites) for you and then send the stuff to e. g. Europe. This http://www.engtaobao.com/ might be one of those. I really have no experience with those though.

For browsing Taobao at least you don't need to understand Chinese, just enter the number of a set. You will obviously miss some sellers who don't use the full code (and these can be the more interesting ones, as they might focus on Chinese customers and accordingly, go with lower prices).

I mainly wanted to point to the prices when buying on a site like Taobao, as the prices at e. g. Aliexpress can be much higher. And there are also sellers who try to buy up stuff from others. I was interested in some of the horses in Enlighten 1501A and B, and checking different sellers. A few days later I checked again and one of those had no more horses (he had had > 30), but there was a new one, and his prices were three times the old one.

    4. That engtaobao.com looks very interesting. Thanks for that! :D Also, yeah it sucks that some sellers don't use the full codes, that's why I'd prefer to understand Chinese but seems so complicated.. Haha If Taobao just had an english translation, they'd be earning so much, but maybe AliExpress is stopping them from doing that. Anyway, if ever I do purchase from Taobao or find out other ways of buying, I'll share it in the blog. Also, enjoy your taobao-bought sets man, you are a lucky man! :D

  4. I love Enlighten Minifigs and thier sets are amazing. I have been collecting thier WWII sets. Got a great Hitler among others. All thier minifigs are unique. I want an Alien set that has a rocker with torn jeans and a pentagram shirt. And I just ordered a police set with a Hooker/drag queen minifig. The only issue with thier minifigs is that they can have loose arms that fall off when moved.
