WM Brand WM297: Prototype Red Darth Vader Helmet Minifig Review

First previewed here!

First of all, this guy is a clone and a modification of an official rare minifig: the prototype red Darth Vader helmet mold. Yes, the official one is just the helmet and that's because TLG tests out their new molds by creating them in red, as far as I know. This means that the torso included in this WM minifig is just their own "design" as in they just colored the usual Vader red.

So another manufacturer probably made this guy even though it's labeled with WM branding because the baseplate is different from other WM figs and the cape too is different.

Some collectors might just scrap that torso because the helmet is all they want, but I still commend WM for including the torso. For quality, well it's the usual but it's not aligned as well as it should be.

He also gets a Vader head which is great.

His back is the same as the other Vaders which is some sort of interchangeable one, right? This one is more aligned than the front thankfully.

No alternate face. The cape is different. It's a different type of cloth and is less defined [in terms of shape] but also looks more durable.

I just hope that NO SELLER advertises this as legit and really does mention it as a knockoff or bootlego version of the prototype red Darth Vader. For the price of the usual bootleg, this is a pretty good deal for people looking for that rare red helmet for their collections; hopefully yours will have better alignment on the torso if you really are interested in that.

When I first saw this from AngeloMarcus Greenhills I even thought this was a Christmas Darth Vader of some sort, but it's not although why not just replace his torso with a Christmas Vader instead too? Hahaha
