POGO PG8082: Domino, Forge, Omega Red, and More Superhero Minifigs Review

First previewed here!

I was super excited when I first saw the set, but I wasn't as happy with the result. It's still nice though since most of these guys are unique and new characters in the bootlego world.

PG290 - Forge
PG291 - Domino
PG292 - Omega Red
PG293 - Sunfire
PG294 - Radioactive Man
PG295 - Pyro
PG296 - Ripclaw
PG297 - Union Jack

Let's start with Forge and Domino first. Two issues about quality control immediately: Forge's face and Domino's legs. Before that though, let's look at the figs in general. Generally, I think the print is alright. The details are there and the colors are fine, even the yellow on Forge's black torso is fine which isn't as normal since light prints on dark molds don't usually look as bright or vibrant, but here it's better than usual. Plastic quality feels a bit on the cheaper side though. It's not as bad as other brands like JLB, but it's on the lower side of POGO's quality, sadly.

Forge's face has that misprinted line on his face under the right eye.. I checked some reference pictures and those didn't have that mark so this is clearly a quality control issue. Does that make it better? Well for POGO's logistics, not as much, but for everyone else, yeah because this is probably an isolated case and only on my Forge.
I'm also not a fan of how the red bandana is applied, but that's more on the preference side of things.

The issue for Domino though are her legs. Those kneepads, I assume, have scratches without even playing around with the figs. Bad quality control again on POGO's part.

These are the guns they come with. Forge's gun is weird but because it's weird, it's welcome. Domino's is the generic TLG pistol. Quality of Forge's gun is much much better than Domino's which is weird because Domino's is simpler..

Side view. The side prints are decent at least. Forge's yellow prints look more like shoulder pads than sleeves because they aren't all the way around.

Back print. No issues. No alternate faces.

Now for Sunfire and Radioactive Man. Radioactive Man is a villain most of the time, but I'm not sure about Sunfire. Anyway, in terms of quality, these two are probably better figs of the set compared to the first two [even though the first two are the more popular, more essential characters]. Same comments about the plastic and print quality as above!

Side view. Those fire arms on Sunfire might be useful for some future MOCs?

Back prints. No legs printing, no alternate printing, no further issues.

Now for Ripclaw and Union Jack. Ripclaw isn't DC or Marvel and Union Jack is a hero from the Marvel Universe. Same comments about these guys as the others I already mentioned above.

Union Jack's face though isn't as plain as you'd think becauset there are some lines around his mouth area. Do I like it? Ummm, I'm not sure but I don't hate it. It's easy to erase too anyway! (With some pencil erasers)

Side view.

Back view.

Now for Omega Red. First of all, his hair seems to be too bright.. Can't think of any less yellow, more blonde hair pieces for now, but the bigger issue would be his misaligned torso. It's not too bad, but it's definitely noticeable.

What bothers me more is that it might not be an isolated case for me because this preview picture also shows a similarly misaligned torso.

Side view.

Back view. SAME PROBLEM AS THE FRONT. I'll try to get another one because I really want a decent Omega Red figure, hopefully I'm wrong and it's just an isolated case with mine. Still though, easy to say that POGO quality control is bad.

Other concern is that the string/web accessory doesn't really give justice Omega Red's whip weapons and so I propose two alternatives. The whip piece and this symbiote/plant piece.
What I ultimately did is get two whip pieces and color them silver with some Silver Sharpie markers.. Haha

Now onto Pyro. POGO Pyro is the one on the left. At first clance, which do you prefer? I personally think that POGO's design is a better design, but the implementation/execution onto the minifig isn't good..

First issue: yellow looks horrible on the legs. This is a bit of a surprise since Forge's yellow prints look alright on the even darker black torso.
If you also look closely at the torso, you'll see some small scratches.

Again, the legs issue I mentioned isn't an isolated case because the preview picture shows the same fading yellow.

Sides. Looks weird for POGO but sure, why not. Haha

Back prints. They should've just used yellow legs with red prints.. No alternate faces too btw!

It generally feels like a rushed set.. Could've been way better. Waste of some interesting characters..

Seems like the upcoming POGO set will be better though, based on Captain Marvel which I already have. (Minus an issue you will see in my upcoming review)

Thankfully you can inspect your figs [in the bag] in AngeloMarcus Greenhills before purchasing! For people who buy online though, all I can say is good luck for now. I don't mean to sound rude or disrespectful but that's really all I can say, and at the price, you really can't expect a lot. (Okay, maybe you can since SY, XINH, and some other brands are soooooo much better despite similar prices)

  1. Just for Info: Ripclaw is from Image Comics like Spawn. Image Comics also made Grifter & Gen 13 before it was bought by DC. And lastly Image is the company comics of The Walking Dead - Jpoks

  2. Omega Red is indeed a little bit of disappointment because of its skin color, not that accurate same problem with Ripclaw and the first Kratos & Lobo. I think Pogo & WM cannot distinguished white from light gray. Pyro is a total disappointment not only its not accurate its a total disaster. - Jpoks
