We saw some very similar figs and beasts from this Sembo set.
Yes, that transparent blue horse and warg have been seen from Sembo's set-of-4
Interesting though that SY861-2 has a tail.. Hmmm. Squirrel Girl anyone?
Generally an interesting looking set, and it's great that SY is reminding us that they can do unique molds. I hope they do the same to their other themes.
I think AngeloMarcus Greenhills will be getting these so if you're from the Philippines, you can get it from them!

And I thought I was up-to-date as I had just detected Sembo 11878-81. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.155.46f23ee3mrPdFH&id=563154761890&ns=1&abbucket=10#detail ;D
ReplyDeleteThe 681-3 guy is "Old Master Q", which is a famous comic character. Either this character itself or the KoG version seems to reflect Confucius. In any case, this version has not been done by any other brand, although the Santa Claus guy from Quan Guan is an "evolution version" of the SY variant.
681-4 is Su Dingfang. He was a general during the Tang dynasty. It seems to be the "evolution version" / sci-fi, not the "historic" variant.
681-5 is Zhou Yu, another famous general, this time from Three Kingdoms era though. The design is a bit weird, as he is meant to represent this guy http://xx.5068.com/uploads/allimg/160604/71-1606041J208.jpg . They should have taken a shoulder armour piece without those spikes IMO.
681-1 is Kay, King Arthur's foster brother. We've seen him several times before in this variant (DG 1017E, similar looking guy from DLP 9056, the guy with light blue hair in LELE 39050, dark blue guy in OBM 99088-6, QUAN GUAN 640-3) - seems they are unsure which hair colour he has ;) , and the evolution variant (recent ELEPHANT JX110204, LY 69005B, LY69008D, Tiger 53120 - the 6th-minifig 53120 series that also features the dark red samurai).
681-2 is named "Baili Shouyou", a fictitious character. He was also released by LELE in 39050 (the guy with the light blue / greyish gun). Seems to be some human-wolf hybrid or whatever, therefore the tail and the pointy ears.
681-6 is named "Baili Xuance", the younger brother of 681-2. He was also included in LELE 39050 and in LEPIN 03075C.
681-7 is an "evolution version" of Guan Yu, and yeah, he needs a horse. Now we should have three ways to get the transparent character (SY679, SY681, SD11839), and two ways to get the transparent horse.
SY681-8 is the "evolution version" of Genghis Khan. We've seen him in one of those SD sets already together with the wolf / warg. Genghis Khan has been done before by JLB only (JLB 3D40-1, 3D60-2, 3D52905). The hair piece is more or less a fail for both brands though due to using existing molds (they could have taken a better fitting existing mold though), as the character should have long red hair and a horned helmet, see http://i1.17173cdn.com/2fhnvk/YWxqaGBf/cms3/lRTYpEbkDvwpwph.png . Anyway. Seems the SY variant just had a hair cut. Possibly the wolf had lice or something XD There's also a "basic version" of Genghis Khan, which has recently been done by LEPIN 03053A.
Best, Oederland
One correction, with regard to 681-7, let's see whether the minifig's head is transparent. It might hold only for the helmet. The head in SY679-6 is a non-transparent light blue / greyish, it's probably the same for this guy and the one in SD11839. In fact, there's a forth set with this variant, in that case combined with a mech, SD11874.

Wow! Thanks for all this info! I'll quote you on the post itself!! Very useful! :D
DeleteBought the set from Sembo 11838-41 with similar minifig for 681-7 and 681-8, and the Sembo set is really disappointing.
ReplyDeleteDamn that's disappointing.. I used to really think Sembo was good, but recently, I'm being more and more doubtful about their quality..
