Looks like Sembo has really stuck with their own sembofigs.
As for the set though, we can't be for sure but maybe these are officially accepted by the Jackie Chan DC Racing team, a racing team owned by David Cheng and Jackie Chan. I'm saying this only cause Sembo isn't holding back with using their names and the team names lol.

I think they are changing the proportions of the minifig in the renders (notice the posed arms and legs) to avoid getting sued, but not in the mouldings. If you look closely at the figure inside the car it looks pretty close to the standard design. It's a shame because while the official shape is iconic, it's not the shape of a human torso, so it would be neat to see manufactured figures with a design that's more accurate to human body shape like they've suggested.
ReplyDeleteThe new minifig body mold was previously introduced in one Ultraman set (https://downtheblocks.blogspot.com/2019/10/sembo-108101-108108-various-ultraman.html). But I think this is their first time to introduce the new mold for human characters. Not sure if Sembo planned to expand this design to other themes as well in future.
DeleteI think this one might be official (since the DCR logo is present) - it is now common for bootlego to make licensed brick sets (although limited to Chinese IP so far, read more here: https://customizeminifiguresintelligence.wordpress.com/2020/01/01/murky-outlook-as-china-clone-bricks-playing-cat-and-mouse-in-2020/), Sembo is probably the most active as fair as I know, making sets based on movies & even semi-official IP such as Ultraman.
