DTB MB001: MythBlockers - Are later batches of minifigs better than earlier batches?

Yeah, this is a new segment from the blog.

The Wolverine with the 2x1 handle piece in front is the newer one.

Disclaimer though:
The original Wolverine was purchased at around October of 2016.
The newer Wolverine was purchased at around August of 2017.
The newer Wolverine may have just been [the supplier's] old stock for all we know, but the months of difference is a good factor at least. (AngeloMarcus Greenhills, my local store, restocked this guy in August 2017; this makes it certain that at least he wasn't just store stock.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking at the two minifigs, I honestly can't tell which is newer or older without the marker. It seems that we get an early answer to our MythBlocking. The new one still gets mistakes, but in other forms; the most annoying one would be their legs. Both legs' printing are just horrible; the black line isn't consistent, the yellow no the new one isn't as solid, and the paint is really just messed up. The new one's shoulder pad also has some errors like that piece of plastic sticking out.

No minifig here is better than the other. So are later batches of minifigs better than earlier batches? It seems that for now, no, newer batches don't mean better. Although please do read the disclaimer above to show you guys that this isn't the ideal set up.

Perhaps I'll try to redo this after I go back to AngeloMarcus Greenhills for anther POGO Netflix Daredevil; they restocked that very rare minifig and I do have an old one. I want to compare the two again, just like this one and see if there are any improvements especially since Netflix Daredevil is one of POGO's first minifigs.

I can't tell yet the future of this segment. MythBlocking is obviously a reference to Mythbusters and I'm gonna try to block some myths about brick-related stuff. It will be difficult for me though because of limited resources, money and time, but I'll try of course if an opportunity to test a myth arises.

By the way, the original review from last year is here!

  1. Yeah I understand that. Thanks for pointing that out. There are certainly a lot of factors involved, this was really just a quick post about it. I can't afford to buy a lot of these minifigs to really test it out as if it was an investigative project haha and I also don't have the time haha, but I do hope that this was able to show some insight about the brand's improvement over time. I still think that they don't improve [the same design/minifig/release] over time though because they don't need to anyway
