so with something like angelomarcus greenhills is there just one or multiple because I'm having a real hard time finding duo le pin figures and sheng yuan sets on aliexpress or ebay. I live in the US so I dont know if theres any knockoff stores like angelomarcus in the US. Please tell me if there is thank you.

DeleteAnother option is to buy from Taobao. It's a chinese site, but people use services like Superbuy to translate to english and deliver to USA at the same time. Some people seem to love the service, but I can't really vouch for it personally because I haven't used it

ReplyDelete818 is produced by a company called MAYLEGO. They have done some brick toys before, also a King of Glory minifig set series, which was released as 牛 (which means cow), the logo was a red cow with a daodao in its mouth. Probably they changed the name of the brand, as it's rather difficult to search for something with that an unspecific name. ;) This set is now promoted as 818 as well, but you can still see the old logo on one of the images, see https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/888741932/TB2tl8iaJLO8KJjSZFxXXaGEVXa_!!888741932.jpg
ReplyDeleteThere is a Taobao shop which quite probably is an official store, https://shop184517124.taobao.com/search.htm?spm=a1z10.1-c-s.w5001-17041329397.3.4fd8c3ee3HM0ee&search=y&scene=taobao_shop , at least it only sells Maylego products. By now we have
牛 / 818 81930 - 8 separate sets, each one consisting of a minifig and a sort of throne or brick-built weapon
818 81998 - 6 separate sets, each one consisting of a minifig and a throne
818 82003 - the 6 minifigs as seen in 81998, but without the throne
818 82008 - the 6 "golden" minifigs as shown here
They also have some King of Glory sets in the sense of Lego's larger buildable Star Wars or Bionicle characters.
Don't expect too much. Based on some reviews I saw (gonna post some links later on) the printing should be good and comes with some interesting details (see e.g. https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i4/0/TB2kFL3fC_I8KJjy0FoXXaFnVXa_!!0-rate.jpg or https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/0/TB2A.DBXqLN8KJjSZFKXXb7NVXa_!!0-rate.jpg , they don't always use black lines at the boundaries between differently coloured sections, which makes the minifigs look somewhat unusual), but the golden minifigs (and the golden weapons in the other sets) are not at all "shiny". Wow you are really an expert in these things and I really appreciate these thoughts and info! I guess they also changed that name because Maylego has "lego" in it hahaha and yeah, 818 seems easier..

The second one should at least give an idea how the "golden" weapons look like. Also note that they seem to have changed their molds, the 81930 minifigs still have a different mold for the legs (see https://i1.kknews.cc/SIG=3354jrl/212q0005rpp7q429opr4.jpg ), while the newer ones look like Lego.

Oh those old legs are horrible. Worse than SY's first legs.. Thanks for these! They might not be the best, but they're good enough especially with those unique designs and molds!
