POGO PG534-PG537, PG539, PG540: The Hobbit's Bilbo, Azog, and More Tolkien Characters Minifigs Review
First previewed here!
PG534 - Bilbo Baggins
PG535 - Bilbo Baggins
PG536 - Hunter Orc
PG537 - Azog
PG539 - Yazneg
PG540 - Lurtz
Let's start with the two Bilbo figs. Both are pretty okay, minus some quality control issues and it's the same case for all the figs in this review.
First up, the ring looked perfect from a distance, but unfortunately it has that plastic nub thing as you can see.. It's also at the back, which means there are two of those nubs that's preventing us from having a perfect gold ring.
Another quality control issue I had is Bilbo's head print. As you can see, there's a black marking on his face that I couldn't remove.
Both the sides are alright though, even for the Bilbo on the right that has a relatively detailed arm print.
Back view. Less issues here.
Now for a Hunter Orc and Azog. Those were the weapons they came with.
Both minifigs could've been good, but there are some issues that might bother a lot of you.
Also, no, Azog does not come with his claw/hook hand, sadly.
For one, Azog's torso print was horrible. Lots of scratches! Also, there's a huge gap in between the torso and legs which makes the design look weird. Beer belly for Azog?
Side views. Not much to see except that Hunter Orc's ears aren't consistently colored. The colors overlap with the black and the end result doesn't look too good.
Back view. Azog's back torso printing is closer to the hips unlike the front, but it doesn't matter because the hips/legs don't have back printing. I was surprised to see back head prints for the Orc given that he has a hair piece that would cover that.
Now for Yazneg and Lurtz.
Same comments about these two; some quality control issues.
Looking closely at Lurtz' face, you can see that there are color smudges/scratches on his teeth. Additionally, if you look at Yazneg at the side, there's a very noticeable plastic snub on his armor.
Nothing on the sides.
Back looks good for the most part.
Without the armor. The print on Yazneg isn't as bright as we'd like, but it's mainly because of the black plastic mold underneath.
Glad that Lurtz has an alternate face too, and this one doesn't have the smudge issue on the mouth.
These figs are actually decent, in my opinion. Decent if the quality control was better. Hopefully POGO improves on this.
We recently saw other LOTR/Hobbit previews from POGO so expect reviews when AngeloMarcus Greenhills gets them in stock!
