Kopf KF6049: Teen Titans Minifigs Review

First previewed here!

KF591 - Robin
KF592 - Cyborg
KF593 - Beast Boy
KF594 - Starfire
KF595 - Raven

If you still don't have the Teen Titans as minifigs, then this set is for you. An issue though is that the designs aren't entirely new. Another noteworthh thing is that Cyborg is sporting his DCEU look from the latest Justice League movie and not his awesome design in the classic cartoon..

Before we look at the minifigs, Starfire comes with these two saucers. No ring holders or other accessories to make her hold these betters. No complaints though, they still look good.

In terms of quality, I have no issues with the three. The designs aren't consistent though in my opinion, meaning that Starfire's design looks more cartoonish while Beast Boy looks more comics-ish, and Cyborg is just too movie-ish. As individual figs, they're great, but as a set, I wish they made them more consistent.

One issue with Cyborg, and one of the two issues, is that his face print was too low that putting on the helmet doesn't align the helmet eye with his normal face.

Side prints. Thankfully Cyborg comes with his robotic arm. I wish we got an extra arm though (both robotic and non-robotic) so that we can have regular Cyborg or dual-blaster Cyborg! Maybe they'll think of it as a variant.

A view of the back. Such a tall forehead for Cyborg, and suddenly Beast Boy's face seems more cartoonish.

Now for Robin and Raven. Robin comes with his iconic staff. Simple stick, no more words needed,

Quality is also great in terms of print and plastic, but they have the second issue of the set which is slapped on print. This Robin would've been great, but the slapped on prints is really disappointing. Raven also has slapped on printing which you'll see below, but with that nice wide cape, it's not too visible.

I was extremely happy to see that Raven came with the wide variant of capes. This is the first time we're getting that in purple and it's also more accurate to how she really looks like.

A view of the back, you also see how the slapped on side prints make the fig look bad from the front and back..

I was initially hyped for the new Titans TV show, but I didn't like the character designs. It's unfortunate too how people are so divided over the designs. People who like the new TV show aren't "true comic fans" for liking inaccurate portrayals while people who don't like the TV show are racist or whiny fans. Of course, those are the extreme sides, I'm sure there are also a lot of people who just want to and really do enjoy the show. I'll check it out maybe when I have more time. (Though I made time for Daredevil season 3 and I loved it..)

Overall a great set, but only if you're okay with variants and you don't want a consistent team. The inconsistency in designs might not attract people, and I think that makes sense. If you already have the characters and are not interested in variants, I don't think you guys will need this set anymore. Maybe Raven's cape? But other than that, you can skip it. Still, I'm glad that AngeloMarcus Greenhills still stocked up on these guys! Hopefully we see more hauls from them!!

  1. My god, the other POGO Starfire that looks like the official Lego is nowhere to be seen now... Like I've searched so many sites and not one sells it. I'm stuck with the TTG Starfire, I bought the Team Wonder Starfire and I will replace the head of this once since TTG eyes look so horrifying.
