Blue Dragon Balls!
Overall, really good. I didn't like the feelof the plastic used on the Goku and SSJ3 hair, but to be fair, most unique molds use different plastic materials..
Sides have great amounts of detail which is always welcome!
The SSJ3 hair mold though (this and the one below) had trouble attaching to the head securely.. They would always come off easily.
It looks great though.
The Battle Armor also comes in two pieces which fit quite nicely.
Same issue wit hthe SSJ3 hair here. The prints onthe armors and the base minifigs look great too.
Great side details! Even the legs have print on the sides despite having waist accessories that will cover the sides.
The backs.
Another view at the SSJ3 hair.
Same comments for these two.
I was wondering why the battle armors had pegs at the back.. Maybe it's reserved for tail accessories? Considering that Saiyans have tails.
Without the cape.
KF6057 Grading
Plastic Quality: 4.5/5
The base minifigs are great, meaning the parts other than the armors, accessories, and hair. The gloss was just right and they didn't feel cheap at all. Even the unique and new armor pieces looked and felt great! The only reason there's a .5 deduction is the SSJ3 hair accessory; that hair piece wasn't molded properly and thus doesn't stick to the head's stud as good as we'd prefer. The SSJ3 and Goku hair pieces also felt different as if the plastic used was difficult from the usual plastic used, and it's probably because of the design of it being pointy and relatively complex.
Print Quality: 5/5
I found no issues with the printing and I am very satisfied with these. Additionally, even the armor accessories had well-printed designs!
Build Quality: 5/5
I've mentioned before that I already have a lot of Dragon Balls, and I'm glad that Kopf is doing them in blue this time, which is actually canon. Additionally, the armors felt, looked, and fit right with the minifigs. Articulation and incompatible parts were also not problems with these. Perhaps you could take into account the SSJ3 hair piece though as a negative in the build quality because of how it doesn't attach properly to the head.
Design Choice: 4.5/5
These are great. I'm just surprised that we didn't see the classic Vegeta with Battle Armor.. I would've expected that to come first.. but I guess we can just wait since Kopf is probably gonna release another set of DBZ minifigs with these armors to take advantage of the mold.
Are they worth it? I think so. Even non-Dragon Ball fans might want the armor accessories included, along with the hair pieces.
They've been available for quite a while now, even in our local store AngeloMarcus Greenhills.. I bet that as soon as the Chinese New Year holidays are done, we're gonna see another wave of figs with these armor pieces.

ReplyDeleteThis is by far my favorite release from Kopf. Wanted Saiyan armor for years! King Vegeta looks perfect. Hope they do new colors/characters soon. Raditz's armor with the white chest plate (instead of black like the stock image) has since been corrected. The newer version is now slightly more orange than the previous earth brown originals. Making those early armor pieces out of print and more rare.
