TIGER 71118: Iron Man's Hall of Armor Pods Review Comparison with SY1169

Yes, it's a boxed set. There's 8 of them and I actually previewed them here.

Sadly, the only "interesting" thing here are the "new" figs. The "new" figs are Iron Man variants that make use of War Machine, Iron Legion, and Falcon as torsos respectively in different colors.

They came with stickers too that I didn't put on anymore.

They have this awkward-looking piece on the ceiling of the pod which falls off quite easily.

The worst part though is the build quality. The whole structure isn't solidly built. For example, the bottom or floor of the pod are barely attached to one another making it easily fall off when attaching or detaching figs from it.

On the right is Sheng Yuan's Hall of Armor. The biggest difference next to the design is the way these structures curve when attached to one another. I kinda like how TIGER's curves, but then I can just modify the Sheng Yuan pods to do that too since these are brick toys anyway.

Additionally, TIGER's HoA has more moving parts which again mean it's more prone to falling apart.

Where I thought TIGER was gonna win against SY is the top portion. SY's HoA has full plates which make it difficult to attach and detach pods from one another. In TIGER's case, it's too easy that they don't even attach properly making moving the whole structure difficult.

As a side note, I wish Sheng Yuan included partially studded plates as roofs instead, but attaching them all together does make for a sturdier build if that's what you prefer.

They still look good with figs though.

Another thing I didn't like with TIGER's though is that the feet of the figs are covered. Right now, I don't think there are many Iron Man figs with feet printing, but if there comes a time that the feet print is actually essential in the design, TIGER's pods won't let us see them.

Sheng Yuan's for comparison.

For TIGER's figs though, they're actually really good. Designs are boring, but the plastic and print quality are great. I just always found the unibrow Iron Man face weird though, lol.

Tony in Falcon's goggles?

We just got a new scanner at home and I haven't set it up yet so for now, I'll just share pictures of the instructions.

Here's the separate review for the Sheng Yuan Hall of Armor. Sheng Yuan's Hall of Armor was initially only available as boxed sets with an Iron Man minifig included. Though thankfully, Kopf was able to get these for single sale!

If you don't like both, then you can check out XINH's more recent Hall of Armor instead.

Another con to TIGER's HoA is its availability. I couldn't find it in AliExpress and local stores here in the Philippines barely have it. Thankfully, AngeloMarcus Greenhills has the SY HoA available too without figs.
