WM WM717, WM722: Bro Thor and Doctor Strange Minifigures with Better Stormbreaker, Mjolnir, and Cloak of Levitation Review

First previewed here! Can't wait to see the other ones from that set, and that's coming from someone who isn't a big fan of variants; these guys are just that good!

 WM717 - Bro Thor

That's what he's officially referred to as: Bro Thor. No need to call him fat Thor or anything else cause Marvel Studios has already decided to name him Bro Thor.

This variant is meant to replicate his look during the final battle of Avengers Endgame though the hair is wrong because he actually has it tied in the movie. Not a big deal for me personally.

The stars of the show!

I was pretty happy with DLP's/Kopf's Stormbreaker (Comparison here, kinda) already because it was much more detailed but remained the same size as Lego's Stormbreaker, though in the movies, Stormbreaker is almost as tall as an average person so this makes more sense. Mjolnir is alright; I'm pretty happy with Lego's design of Mjolnir but having that side by side with a highly detailed, almost non-brick design Stormbreaker might have looked weird so I think WM did the right thing here. The thunder prints kinda look weird though.

 Custom made beard piece? Good mold detail and looks accurate to the movie! Not bad at all!

What a beautiful cloak, but before that..

He comes with these generic magic pieces. They were a bit loose though.

 

WM really went all out with the coat. The mold details at the back look and feel great. The prints on the front also look great. No complaints here. The general feel of the plastic also doesn't feel cheap and feels really stable without sacrificing the thin look it's trying to achieve.

Initially, when I saw the preview, I wasn't interested in this Doctor Strange variant cause we already have a lot of them. Then I rewatched Doctor Strange and Avengers Infinity War and remembered that the Cloak of Levitation is a character in itself and really deserves more representation in our minifigure collections. Is it safe to say that this WM722 is actually a 2 characters in 1 product? I would argue so! Lol!

Great unique mold accessories from WM! Plus, the base minifigures are pretty decent too if not good. They seem a bit too glossy sometimes, but others might even prefer that. I didn't see anything negative about print and plastic quality on both the base minifigs and the accessories. These two are a great start. Once the Endgame hype is done, I hope they invest in other characters and themes, yes even non-superhero ones. We know what they can do and we only hope they can keep improving. 

Do I recommend these? Definitely! If you don't want more variants though, then feel free to skip but if you've been waiting for an exception when it came to variants, I think these guys are worthy.

Can't wait to get the others; AngeloMarcus Greenhills only currently has these two from the set but that's WM's fault. WM probably isn't rushing and that's fine as long as they deliver good quality minifigures like these ones.
