POGO PG1401: Voltron [New, 2nd Variant] Minifig Review

First previewed here!

The other Voltron in the picture, the older one, was reviewed here!

The one on the left is PG1401 which is the newer one. Before even scrolling down, I'll let you know that the hands are plain minifig hands as opposed to what the other Voltron has. While ideally the older Voltron's hands are better, the complicated mold and prints make way for errors that POGO might commit (like misprints and bad shaping).

I have no personal preference between the two though and I honestly think that both of them are worth having.

It's also noteworthy to mention that this guy was previewed as PG1130 which I actually posted about in our Facebook page because it meant that it had taken another fig's, a camel fig, code of PG1130.

While the fig might not be on the same level as XINH or SY in terms of the prints and plastic quality, it's really good. I think that the overall quality and feel of this Voltron is better than the previous one and than many other unique POGO figs. The base minifig's printing was also surprisingly good that it puts other POGO figs to shame.

This Voltron comes with a bigger sword than the previous version and a shield that the previous didn't have. I had no issues with these accessories too.

The white hands kinda look off without the weapons or the lion mouth designs. Still, I don't think it ruins the fig at all.

Great amount of detail all around and the fig, and honestly implemented nicely too.

Back design which is also great. The wing design is actually comprised of two parts: a neck connector for the wings and the wings themselves. No issue with these.

The helmet is also comprised of two parts which I think is another good idea because it allows the helmet to have more consistent colors instead of just painting over the mold which also results to misprints, misalignments, and other issues. The gold is painted on though, but I had no noticeable issues with them.

This guy is surprisingly good, especially for POGO. I loved the previous Voltron fig, and I'm not even a fan of the franchise, and while that has its own pros and cons, this one's quality is definitely better in my opinion.

Will I be getting the Ideas Voltron though? Probably not since it's outside my budget. Though if AngeloMarcus Greenhills decides to stock up on the Decool BrickHeadz Voltron [which I think looks great], then maybe I'll look into that instead.
