KORUIT KT1014: Lord of the Rings Soldiers of Gondor Minifigs Review

If you have KORUIT's shiny variants of GoT Kingsguard minifigs, the quality of the molds (helmet, armor) are very similar to those.

I would split the set into two parts or four parts. What I mean is, one half of the set has armor pieces  [for the torso] while the other doesn't. Additionally, there are four kinds of weapons here which means that out of the eight, two of them will have the same weapon. Are these problems? Nah.


Let's start with the armorless soldiers. While there are no armors, the helmets are still present as well as capes.


A closer look at the helmets. I have no issues with these. The details are good and the plastic feels good as well, minus the tip being a bit too pointy so be cautious when letting children handle these. The plastic felt good for the most part, but it also feels a bit thinner; it might just be a psychological effect of the helmet being shiny, but I might as well mention it.

These are the four weapons/classes:

Sword + shield and spear + shield. No issues on quality here. The prints on the shield look good even with those thin designs. The sword might seem a bit out of proportion though.


The other two weapons are bow and arrow and what I would call a longsword (that's just what I'm gonna name it, I don't know what it really is). The designs of the swords are different from one another by the way (this sword is different from the sword that comes with the shield).


The archer, despite having a cape, still has a quiver to my surprise. What KORUIT did was use a one-hole cape which meant that a backpack accessory could still be attached. Using their wisely designed quivers, the cape is no problem; the quiver can even be adjusted because it's designed to act like the underside of a 3x1 flat brick! Great, right?





The adjustable quiver is great! It's useful for situations wherein a minifig's helmet might be too high or too low that a quiver might overlap with it.


So they all came with capes instead of armors. The prints on the capes were on the fuzzy sides. I personally use the fuzzy sides on the inside, but because of KORUIT's print, I'm forced to use the fuzzy side on the outside. That's just a personal preference though and maybe what KORUIT did was more accurate to the movies.

Oh and, the armorless figs didn't have alternate faces.. while these armored ones do.


Now for the armored figs! Same minifig base torso,helmet, and weapons. They come with no capes though except for the longsword guy.

There are actually two types of armors though!

This one has armor that extends to the upper legs.


This one doesn't extend to the legs, but has a hole at the back that can be used to attached accessories like the quiver!


Longsword guy has a one-hole cape similar to the armorless archer. Due to the slimmer cape design, it fits well enough in the armor.

Again, the armored Gondor Soldiers have alternate faces on their heads.

Let's not forget about the base figs.

The prints are still amazing! The plastic is also good, but I think that other KORUIT figs' plastic quality had better feel. Still not bad though and is just as good as XINH's, if not slightly better.


Unfortunately, we're seeing some slapped on prints on the arms, but at least it's not too noticeable on a design like this.

Overall another great set from KORUIT! The prints were good on the base figs, and the accessories were also good! I think that older KORUIT figs had much more solid molds, like the first ever release of the KORUIT Kingsguard, but nonetheless these ones are still great.
