Decool 0313: Modular Hulkbuster (Black and Gold) Bigfig Review

First previewed here including more information about the source design!

How many Hulkbusters do we have already?? Well, not as many as Hulks at least.

This Hulkbuster is using Decool's iconic bigfig mold, which to be fair is TLG's design. The design initially came from TLG's Marvel Superheroes game (the first one). That game came out before there was even a Hulkbuster in the MCU.

These are the only removable parts. The arm consists of three parts: the shoulder pad, the upper arm, and the lower arm. Both arms have the same configuration.

View of the sides. The painted parts are okay for the most part, but I could notice some scratches on those silver prints.

The back. Great prints on the gold parts too.

Here it is beside the older Decool Hulkbuster. Identical mold but after closely looking at the old Hulkbuster, the new one's plastic seemed to be of better quality. The old one had some weird plastic mold deformations that were visible if looked at closely. Though to be fair, I think this one is one of the older releases from Decool, considering that there have been new batches of the same bigfig.

Now beside the reportedly least liked Hulkbuster bigfig, Lele's. I personally still like Lele's Hulkbuster but comparing it to the Modular Hulkbuster is kinda invalid.. The two have too many differences.

Now this Hulkbuster on the right is the Hulkbuster that a lot of people really want, it's also my personal favorite. Though it's really difficult to compare the two again because the Decool Hulkbuster is an all-different Hulkbuster.

Decool 0313 Grading:

Print Quality: 5/5
The prints were great. I was afraid that it would get some misaligned prints especially since the old one had very simple prints while this new one has some more complicated design elements throughout its body. Additionally, there were no overlaps in the prints on the parts. I'm just hoping that quality control was good and that you guys got/get decent versions as well!

Plastic Quality: 4/5
It's a 4 mainly because I know Decool can do better. The plastic felt good enough, but I've certainly seen and felt better Decool bigfigs.

Build Quality: 4/5
The articulation of this bigfig, which it shares with its older version, is limited to the arms. Thankfully Decool still included possible movements on the arms. Though the build experience was boring (which might not matter) and was a tiny bit difficult when it came to attaching the two halves of the arms. After that though it was fine.

Design Choice: 4.5/5
We already have many Hulkbusters and we could've used a new mold instead. Though I think that the design they chose was great if it was just meant to make the most out of their Hulkbuster mold. I'm just hoping that Decool comes back to creating unique bigfigs like they did before.

So is it worth it to buy? If you're a solid Iron Man fan, then it's an automatic buy in my opinion. But if you're happy with the other Hulkbuster figs that you have already, then this one might be worth skipping. But if you're worried about quality, don't be, it's a good quality bigfig and I hope Decool makes more new molds and designs soon.

I reviewed the Sheng Yuan Hulkbuster here, waaaay back. I also reviewed the Lele Hulkbuster and compared it with the other two in this review here.
