Kopf KF750: Mazinkaiser Minifig Review

First previewed here!

I wonder which mecha is next. Honestly I was expecting Voltes V, but a lot of you guys were also happy to see Mazinkaiser and I'm here to help you decide if it's worth it!

This sword is amazing. If I ever need a shiny silver bladed sword that has a gold handle, this would be my go-to.

Wings are relatively thick, but that's not a bad thing. It felt sturdy. It's also times like this that we should appreciate separate molds for the head instead of just one mold that's painted/printed on. This allows the colors to be more consistent and less prone to error.

The back.

Without the wing.

The wings come in three parts which is relatively easy to build. Again, let's appreciate that these are separate molds because the painting isn't a problem when it comes to precision. Unfortunately, this also means that some of your figs might not come with one of the parts as is the common occurrence with bootleg minifigs.

So I mentioned that the head comes in many different parts instead of just one mold that's painted on. Unfortunately, and this might also be a good thing though, it was quite difficult to remove the parts from one another.

I thought of that in advance though and took pictures but only before I took out my lighting set up hence the dark image. So yes, those are four parts that combine to form the head, pretty simple set up too.

Kopf KF570 Grading

Print quality: 5/5
No need to praise them too much here though since they prints on him are pretty basic, but Kopf still did a good job. Other brands can't get even simple prints done properly and so I'm glad that Kopf delivered with this one.

Plastic quality: 4/5
The plastic felt and looked okay for the most part and is probably above average when it comes to bootleg quality, but I also know that Kopf has better quality [plastic] figs out there which leads me to giving it only a 4. The unique molds also felt different from usual minifig plastic, but still not bad.

Build quality: 5/5
Articulation had no problems. If you're gonna take him apart regularly though, then maybe we can give this a 4.5 or 4, but I assume not a lot are gonna take apart his helmet and wings anyway since they only really work with one another. Additionally, the sword was really great and even other non-Mazinkaiser collectors can appreciate that.

Design choice: 4.5/5
Mazinkaiser fans were really happy to hear the news on this and knowing that fans are happy gives me joy too, even if I'm personally not a fan. It's not a perfect 5 though because the parts here are probably just recycled from the Lele Mazinger Z minifig. Is that bad? Not necessarily. Forget my grade if you're really a fan; this could easily be a 5 if you're a big Super Robot fan.

So is this minifing worth it? I think the uniqueness of the minifig grants it its worth for both fans of it and simply minifig collectors; though I would also understand that you will skip this if you're not a fan of the series.

Do remember that these grades are based on bootleg standards. If we were to include the best brand: TLG here, then TLG would have a grade of 6/5. Also, despite the grades I might give, it will always be up to you if you decide to buy them or not. What I might find ugly, you might find beautiful and vise versa!

Don't forget that Lele also released a Mazinger Z minifig last year that was also pretty good. I wasn't even a fan but as soon as AngeloMarcus Greenhills had it in stock, I had to rush to get it because I was sure that people would empty the stock asap.

For Philippine readers though, if I have it for review then most likely AngeloMarcus Greenhills already has it in stock!
