First previewed here.
The reason we take these pictures outside the usual setup is that we build them on the bed and just take pictures after. Also, from experience, we know that disassembling some knockoff figures can be quite frustrating; just to be safe, we take pictures even before we bring them to our photo set up.
Thanos has two holes in the groin area (front and back) where accessories will attach. I think this is a good choice for WM to make since this lets them use blue molds instead of blue paint. Don't worry about attaching them the wrong way too because they only fit a certain way! (Kudos to WM for the great design process on that!)
Thanos comes with a Stark or Nano Gauntlet, but he also still comes with a regular maxifig hand and hand armor. It was a bit difficult inserting the hand into the armor for a while, but once it was in, it didn't have any more problems. It also didn't feel like it was gonna break.
He's also got his iconic helicopter sword. I have comments on that below.
For the price that you're getting this, there's not much to complain about. The only issue I had with this was that there was a dot of gold paint on his purple arm; I tried to rub pencil eraser on it and after a few rubs, the mark was gone.
No alternate face prints; we've actually never seen that on bigfigs yet. I feel like they could've included an alternate face though; a calmer Thanos would've been great especially pre-final battle of Avengers Endgame.
The sides. Great details here! The hand armor actually adds to his overall look; then you can also remove it for a more ravaged look.
The Gauntlet is also great for the most part (with some compatibility issues below). There are some small scratches on the infinity stones but they're not too noticeable.
The back. Thank god WM still put in effort into designing the back!
Here's my issue with the sword, that might not even be an issue to others. Those are the only two ways that Thanos can hold the sword properly and they both look awkward. You won't be able to move the hands too because of the armor.
Again, it's really not a big deal because WM could've easily just not included the sword, instead, they still did for us to enjoy!
So I have like 4 different variants of that Hulk, the other 3 had more accurate costume (black-violet color scheme) but the Gauntlet wouldn't fit in any of their hands except this one. This can be solved though by trimming the pegs of the WM Stark Gauntlet, but that's not a solution for other people.
So do I recommend this WM custom maxifig? Yes! WM put in a lot of effort designing and making this custom Thanos bigfig and for what they're charging, it's absolutely worth it. Just consider the sword as a bonus, and also can't see a sword of that length being held easily by a maxifig so we can't put WM down because of that. Price to quality ratio is still really good.

ReplyDeleteKF803 is the example, i didn't order this one but an endgame version which i can't find anymore, but you still get the right head out of ordering it. Mix them up w/ the proper arms as well and boom, 100% accurate Thanos.
If you have the Thanos fig at the right of Stan Lee here:

Then just order the minifig here to get the right head on it as well:

Color of eyes and skin are not accurate to the film version... You also can use the head and arms of KF1129...
ReplyDeleteBut the rest is brutally accurate!!! Great praise WM!!!
Damn, they previewed too long for this, and now the wait is worth it! Too bad they didn't do the Infinity Gauntlet (left hand) as well 'cause that will be much more epic (maybe use POGO's Gauntlet might work). Going to buy this soon!
