Sheng Yuan SY1481: Avengers Book (Minifigures Only) Review

First previewed here.

There's really nothing new with this set. The minifigures aren't new designs, but they're improved upon. These guys have 360 prints as opposed to their counterparts in other sets.

For an example, this Ant-Man has arm prints while Ant-Man from other SY sets doesn't. Torso and helmet prints are the same though.

I'm not reviewing the book build in this set. I'm saving the parts for some MOC backdrops for my pictures or for selling in case I don't have the time.

There were 3 main bags though. All the figs were in one bag, thankfully.

I'll start off with the general opinions about the figures.
Quality-wise, they're amazing. Good prints and plastic quality. The 360 prints also make them worth getting even if you already own the characters from other brands. Do I still wish we could've gotten new characters instead, or even different variants at least? Yes, but I'm glad that at least they're more detailed than their already-existing counterparts.

3 Iron Man figures in one set. With two marks that are soooo common already. Heck, even MK 1 is pretty common already too. At least MK1's accessory is an oversized Arc Reactor similar to what Pepper gave to him as a gift in Iron Man (2008).

The two biggest dislikes I have with the set are those two Iron Man helmets. Technically, it's just 1 issue because it's the same problem. They didn't print red on the chins, so disappointing.

Loving these side prints!

Now for Ronin, Black Widow, and Thanos. Black Widow has a misprint on her lips, and generally her face just looks a bit off. I'm also not sure if that Black Widow variant has been made before.

Typical armored Thanos minifig from Sheng Yuan. The Gauntlet is printed nicely too, unlike other variants of this. (As in all the stones are printed their correct colors, more or less.)

No alternate face prints.

Nebula came with two crossbows while Rocket came with those two new pistol molds. I'm glad we have those two new molds because I don't have a lot of those yet.

Carol Danvers has an alternate face.

Hulk comes with tools, which is something Chinese brands like to do with Hulk for some reason. Venom comes with his tentacles accessories. It's a bit disappointing though that this Venom is the same as the Spider Book Venom. (Personally though, this one's alright with me because my Spider Book Venom came with 2 of the same arms, so now I have the correct Venom, lol.)

Best ANAD Spider-Man yet?

Wait, what's that weird line on Spider-Man and Hulk's legs? Check below.

The legs of Spider-Man and Hulk are dual-molded, technically. They're separate pieces that came out of the packs actually unassembled. I really hope Sheng Yuan releases a bunch of plain figures with molds like this so that people can actually customize better. Or at least release more designs with more dual-molded separate legs and arms.

Another Iron Man armor, technically. Rescue and Ant-Man.
Again, great 360 prints for both!

Thor and Doctor Strange's accessories.

This Thor is based on the new Lego Marvel Thor and those are based on the new Marvel Avengers video game.

I really really appreciate how Sheng Yuan was able to extend the designs made by Lego, etc.

I never really planned on getting this whole book set, I just wanted Falcon and was gonna get the SY Captain America shield for him. I then decided that getting this set might better.

Falcon's wings have no prints at the back which is understandable given that his suit here isn't really based on canon content.

I gotta say though, I got this set mainly for Falcon but this Steve Rogers is probably the best one out there [bootlego-wise].

Sheng Yuan also gave Falcon dual-molded arms (that are able to separate).

Wish they printed that on the back of Falcon's wings, but it's not that big of a deal for me.

So is the set worth getting? If you're not content with your current Marvel collection, then I would say yes. If you already have these characters and don't really care for 360 prints, then just skip it.

The book is a relatively boring build, though that's more of personal preference. If you're into that, then that's even more reason to get the set.

Still, while I enjoyed this set, I would've preferred a set with new characters or at least variants we haven't seen yet. (Only Falcon was a new variant here, I think)
