WM WM6044: Various Marvel Minifigs (Venomverse/Symbiote and More) Review

First previewed here!

Not to be confused with Kopf's identical set of minifigs.

Before anything, some of them came with these generic symbiote tendrils that were mostly horrible. Some of them wouldn't stay inside the backpack accessory which was because the backpack's claws were to wide or the tendrils were too thin. For the rest of review, I will not be including these anymore and instead focusing on the minifigs themselves. Additionally, they're black while Iron Man is red which makes it not look so nicely.

Left minifig isn't a new character as we can see with KL's Spider-Man 1602. I don't know how many of the middle one we've seen already but I'm sure that a number of brands have already done this Venom or a highly similar Venom. The Captain America is a new design but I don't think it's canon. If you want the canon Venomized Captain America, check out KORUIT's Captain America (Venom).

The Venomized Captain America that WM made is probably just a random or fan design because even the Poison variant of Captain America looked like this instead.

WM didn't bother to just include a spare head with the alternate print.. and so we end up with a weird minifig with two faces. XINH includes separate heads for situations like this.

KORUIT's Venompool from this set seems to be a better version of this and is more accurate, especially comparing it to the mobile game Contest of Champions.

Great to see a new Spider-Man (Doc Ock). The spider arms are definitely preferred in this new one, though design wise, opinions among people may vary more.

New spider arms are identical to the Iron Spider's (comics version) except for the colors of course.

Sheng Yuan's Spider-Man (Doc Ock) seems to be more accurate in terms of the torso. Though I think I prefer WM's head.

WM6044 Grading

Plastic Quality: 4.5/5
I had no issues with plastic quality but I think that we've also seen better quality figs from WM. Additionally, the symbiote tendrils were a hit or miss, thankfully I'm not too interested in those, but for those of you who are then you might be disappointed.

Print Quality: 5/5
Prints were great. Designs might not be your preferred ones, but WM was able to print on their figs properly at the least.

Build Quality: 4.5/5
No issues with articulation and the building process, but the tendrils again might mean something to you hence the 4.5.

Design Choice: 2.5/5
But I'd argue that the Doc Ock Spider-Man can be a 4 and Spider-Man 1602 can be a 3; this is because those two are definitely must-have characters for Spider-Man fans, but they were made in the past already, but it's been quite a while and only one other variant was made for each. For the others though, they aren't so great. The Venomized characters are just the usual characters with a bunch of black parts or venomized design elements. Perhaps the most boring would be the Venom minifig himself because it's such a worn out design already and even the head prints were printed on just one head which made him a weird minifig.

Are they worth getting? If you're strictly collecting canon characters, then most of them can be skipped. I'm just glad that despite the boring designs, the quality of the figs were good.

Do note that Kopf also has their own set of these figs that are seemingly identical, but we're not sure if quality will be better or worse than this. I'm happy with these though, but if AngeloMarcus Greenhills does get the Kopf versions, maybe I can also buy them and compare them to see a Kopf vs WM review.

  1. While Sheng Yuan's version has a more accurate design (particularly on the back) I think the printing on WM's version is SUPERIOR :p
